FrankenToyMobile

Completed 2015

Design by Andrés Lemus-Spont and Louis Fernandez for ¡anímate! Studio

Fabrication by Andrés Lemus-Spont

Launched publicly in June 2015, the FrankenToyMobile was a pedal-powered maker space that encourages imagination and curiosity by providing free, hands-on workshops where youth and adults reused toys as raw material for original creations. The custom-designed tricycle was a traveling studio with counter-style workspace, the mobility of which enabled ¡anímate! Studio to go to people, lowering barriers to access. Built off a second hand bicycle frame from Working Bikes. In recent years, as ¡anímate! has developed new workshops, the detachable front has been swapped out with other attachments for creative workshops including a percussive “noise machine” and a mount to hold over a hundred pool noodles.
