Design and Fabrication by Building Brown Workshop for Mikhail Fiksel

Commissioned by a DJ and sound designer as their production space. The design was constrained by several material and space requirements. First, the wood needed to be milled from a three inch thick slab the client was providing and which had sentimental value. From that limited material, tight tolerances were required on the side compartments to accommodate the modular racked studio components. The most prominent feature of this desk is its live edge which gives the front a welcoming tactile edge and towards the back is mirrored and stitched together with bowtie inlays to create a cavity for cord management.
